My Country

My country is Bangladesh. It is a small country in South Asia. Bangladesh is very beautiful. It has many rivers, green fields, and hills. The total area of Bangladesh is about 1,47,570 square kilometres. The population exceeds 1.6 crore. Dhaka is the capital city of Bangladesh. It is very crowded but lively. Bangladesh has a long history. Many great empires and kingdoms ruled here. The country became independent in 1971. Our independence is a proud moment in our history. People fought bravely for freedom. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the Father of the Nation. He is a great leader. Bangladesh has a rich culture. We celebrate many festivals. Pohela Boishakh is our New Year's festival. People wear colourful clothes and enjoy traditional food. We also celebrate religious festivals like Eid, Durga Puja, and Buddha Purnima. Bangladesh is famous for its rivers. The Ganges, Jamuna, and Padma flow here. Rivers are vital for transportation and agriculture. Fishing is also common in rivers. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people. Rice is the main crop. We also grow jute, wheat, sugarcane, and vegetables. The Sundarbans is a famous forest in Bangladesh. It is the largest mangrove forest in the world. The forest has many animals. The Royal Bengal Tiger is our national animal. It is very strong and beautiful. Bangladesh has many historical monuments. Lalbagh Fort, Ahsan Manzil, and the Sixty Dome Mosque are very famous. People visit these places to learn history. Bangladesh has made progress in education. Many children go to school. We have universities and colleges for higher education. Science and technology are growing in Bangladesh. Many people now work in IT and industries. The country is also improving in health services. Hospitals and clinics are increasing every year. Bangladesh faces challenges too. Floods, cyclones, and river erosion are common problems. The government works to solve these problems. People are very hardworking. They always try to improve their life. Bangladesh has a friendly relationship with many countries. We trade goods like garments, jute, and seafood. Our garment industry is very famous in the world. Many foreigners buy clothes from Bangladesh. Sports are popular here. Cricket is the most favourite game. Football is also loved by many people. Bangladesh has talented players who represent the country internationally. The people of Bangladesh are simple and kind. They help each other in difficult times. Women are also becoming active in every field. Bangladesh is a country of hope. Young people dream of making the country developed. We love our country very much. We are proud of our culture, history, and achievements. Bangladesh is small but beautiful. It has natural resources, rivers, forests, and fertile land. People live together peacefully in most places. My country is rich in tradition and culture. I am proud to be a citizen of Bangladesh. I hope Bangladesh will become a strong and developed country in the future. I love my country very much.
