Personification হলো এমন অলঙ্কার যেখানে জড়বস্তু বা অমানবীয় বস্তুকে মানুষের গুণাবলি দেওয়া হয়। উদাহরণস্বরূপ, “The sun smiled at us” সূর্যকে মানুষের মতো হাসতে সক্ষম হিসেবে উপস্থাপন করেছে। Shakespeare লিখেছেন, “When well-appareled April on the heel of limping winter treads”— এখানে ঋতুকে মানুষ হিসেবে চিত্রিত করা হয়েছে।
