• প্রশ্নবাচক বাক্যযুক্ত Direct Speech-কে Indirect Speech-এ রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:

• কাঠামো: Subject + ask + object + if/whether + reported speech-এর subject + Tense অনুযায়ী verb + বাকির অংশ।

• এখানে "asked" হলো reporting verb, যা Present Indefinite Tense-এ রয়েছে।

• তাই Indirect Speech-এ reported speech-এর verb-টি পরিবর্তিত হয়ে Past Indefinite Tense হবে।

• সঠিক রূপান্তর:

Direct: She asked me, “Are you happy in your new job?”
Indirect: She asked me if I was happy in my new job.

Direct narration-এ reporting clause (যেমন, my father said) বাক্যের শুরুতে, মাঝখানে বা শেষে আসতে পারে। তবে indirect speech-এ reporting clause সবসময় বাক্যের শুরুতেই স্থাপন করতে হয়।

Reporting verb সাধারণত past tense-এ থাকায়, reported speech-ও past tense-এ থাকবে।

উদাহরণস্বরূপ, direct speech-এ reporting verb past tense (said) হলে—‘will’ এবং ‘am’ কে indirect speech-এ যথাক্রমে ‘would’ ও ‘was’ রূপে পরিবর্তন করা হয়।

সুতরাং, সঠিক indirect speech হবে—
“My father said that he would have a cup of tea because he was not hungry.”

Direct to Indirect Speech (Interrogative Sentence)

• Example:

• Direct: I said to him, "Will you lend me your books?"

• Indirect: I enquired of him whether he would lend me his books.

• নিয়মাবলী:

1. Reporting verb: Interrogative sentence-এ direct speech-কে indirect speech-এ রূপান্তর করতে, প্রথমে reporting verb বসাতে হবে।

   • "said" এর পরিবর্তে প্রশ্নসূচক অর্থে asked/enquired of ব্যবহার হবে।

2. Auxiliary verb দিয়ে শুরু হলে: Direct speech থেকে inverted comma তুলে দিয়ে if/whether linker হিসেবে বসাতে হবে।

3. Reported speech-এর subject: Direct speech-এর subject বসবে। যদি subject second person হয়, তবে reporting verb-এর object অনুযায়ী পরিবর্তন হবে।

4. Tense পরিবর্তন: Reporting verb যদি past tense-এ থাকে এবং মূল verb-এর পূর্বে shall/will থাকে, তাহলে indirect speech-এ তা should/would-এ পরিবর্তিত হবে।

5. Sentence type পরিবর্তন: Interrogative sentence-টি indirect speech-এ সবসময় assertive sentence-এ পরিণত হবে।

• Structure:
Subject + ask/asked + object (যদি থাকে) + linker word + reported speech-এর subject + verb + বাকি অংশ
