- কিন্তু শেষ সময়ে দেখা যায় তার ছোট ছেলেটিও সাগরে ডুবেই মারা যায়।

- তিনি ছিলেন আইরিশ সাহিত্যের নবজাগরণের নেতৃস্থানীয় ব্যক্তিত্ব, মহান একজন কাব্যিক নাট্যকার যিনি আরান দ্বীপপুঞ্জ এবং পশ্চিম আইরিশ সমুদ্র তীরের কঠোর গ্রামীণ অবস্থাকে পরিশীলিত কারুকার্যের সাথে চিত্রিত করেছেন।
- প্রথমে তিনি একজন 'musician' হবার ইচ্ছা করলেও 1894 সালে তিনি একজন সঙ্গীতজ্ঞ হওয়ার পরিকল্পনা ত্যাগ করেন এবং এর পরিবর্তে English Literature এ মনোনিবেশ করেন।

"The Rape of the Lock" কবিতাটির শিরোনামে "lock" শব্দটি দিয়ে বোঝানো হয়েছে বেলিন্ডার চুলের একটি কাটা অংশ, অর্থাৎ চুলের একটি lock.

- It is a narrative Poem.
- এটির প্রথম ভার্সন ১৭১২ সালে প্রকাশিত হয় consisted of two cantos.
- The final version, published in 1714, was expanded to five cantos.
- এটি একটি ৭৯৪ লাইনের একটি গুরুগম্ভীর কিন্তু হাস্যরসাত্মক কবিতা।
- Heroic couplets ব্যবহার করে এটি রচনা করা হয়েছে।
- Belinda বা Arabella Fermor নামের এক মেয়ে এখানে প্রধান চরিত্র যার চুলের বেনি বা একগুচ্ছ চুল কেটে ফেলে অপর একজন যুবক Baron বা Lord Petre.
