কবিতায় মেরিনার শেষমেশ সমুদ্রের সাপগুলোকে আশীর্বাদ করেন। এটি তার আধ্যাত্মিক উপলব্ধির প্রতীক। সে বুঝতে পারে যে সব প্রাণী ঈশ্বরের সৃষ্টি, এবং প্রত্যেকটিকে শ্রদ্ধা করা উচিত। তার পূর্বের ভুল ও অপরাধের দায়বোধ ধীরে ধীরে কমতে শুরু করে।

Coleridge এখানে মানবজীবনের নৈতিকতা, প্রকৃতির প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা, এবং আধ্যাত্মিক শিক্ষার গুরুত্ব দেখিয়েছেন। মেরিনারের এই পরিবর্তন তার মুক্তি ও আত্মার শান্তির দিকে নিয়ে যায়।

কবি বারবার বলেন যে প্রকৃতির সাথে মানুষের একীভূত হবার মাধ্যম হলো আনন্দ (Joy)। Joy–কেই তিনি “the spirit and the power” বলেছেন, যা প্রকৃতিকে আমাদের সাথে বিবাহবন্ধনে আবদ্ধ করে। কেবল আনন্দপূর্ণ আত্মাই প্রকৃতির সৌন্দর্য উপলব্ধি করতে পারে।

“The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” কবিতাটির সাতটি অংশের সংক্ষিপ্ত বিবরণ নিম্নরূপ। প্রতিটি অংশে গল্পের মূল ঘটনাগুলো ধাপে ধাপে তুলে ধরা হয়েছে এবং ইংরেজি ও বাংলার মিশ্রণে বিষয়বস্তু স্পষ্টভাবে বোঝানো হয়েছে।

• Part I: Introduces the Mariner and the Wedding-Guest, sets the voyage scene, shows the initial good fortune, and presents the appearance of the Albatross। এখানে Mariner এবং Wedding-Guest পরিচিত হয়, যাত্রার পরিবেশ তৈরি করা হয়, শুভ সূচনা দেখানো হয় এবং Albatross এর আগমন ঘটে।

• Part II: The Mariner shoots the Albatross, crew initially angry, later approve when fog lifts, and the curse begins। Mariner Albatross কে হত্যা করে, শুরুতে crew রাগ করে, কিন্তু ধোঁয়া উঠার পর তারা অনুমোদন দেয়, এবং শাপের প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হয়।

• Part III: The ship becomes becalmed, crew suffers from thirst, spectre-bark appears, and the crew dies। জাহাজ স্থির হয়ে যায়, crew পানির জন্য কষ্ট পায়, spectre-bark প্রদর্শিত হয়, এবং crew মারা যায়।

• Part IV: The Mariner experiences isolation and suffering, cannot pray initially, and changes when he blesses the sea snakes। Mariner একাকী ও কষ্টে ভোগে, প্রার্থনা করতে পারে না, কিন্তু যখন সে sea snakes কে আশীর্বাদ করে, তার পরিবর্তন ঘটে।

• Part V: Curse starts to lift, Mariner sleeps, spirits animate dead crew, and the ship begins moving again। শাপ ধীরে ধীরে কমতে থাকে, Mariner ঘুমায়, spirits মৃত crew কে জীবন্ত করে তোলে, এবং জাহাজ আবার চলতে শুরু করে।

• Part VI: The ship continues its journey, Mariner has visions, reaches home port, and spectral forms leave the dead bodies। জাহাজ যাত্রা চালিয়ে যায়, Mariner visions দেখে, ঘরে পৌঁছায়, এবং spectral forms মৃতদেহ ত্যাগ করে।

• Part VII: The Pilot, Hermit, and Pilot's Boy rescue the Mariner, the ship sinks, and Mariner begins his penance of traveling and telling his tale। Pilot, Hermit, এবং Pilot’s Boy Mariner কে উদ্ধার করে, জাহাজ ডুবে যায়, এবং Mariner শুরু করে তার penance—ভ্রমণ করা ও গল্প বলা।
