সংজ্ঞা:

• Number হলো কোন ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা প্রাণীর সংখ্যাকে নির্দেশ করা।

প্রধান দুই প্রকার:

1. Singular Number (একবচন) – এক ব্যক্তি, এক বস্তু বা এক প্রাণী

2. Plural Number (বহুবচন) – একাধিক ব্যক্তি, বস্তু বা প্রাণী

বিশেষ নিয়মাবলী:

১. সবসময় Singular হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত কিছু শব্দ:

• Information

• Furniture

• Scenery

• Poetry

• News

• Athletics

২. সবসময় Plural হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত কিছু শব্দ:

• Cattle

• People

• Police

• Folk

• Swine

• Vermin

The Fool in King Lear – Lear’s Conscience

• Truth-Teller:

  • After Lear banishes Cordelia and gives his kingdom to Goneril and Regan, the Fool constantly reminds Lear of his foolishness.

  • He is the only character who can speak blunt truths to the king without punishment, fulfilling the traditional role of a court jester.

• Uses Riddles and Jokes:

  • His wisdom comes through riddles, songs, and jokes, exposing the absurdity of Lear’s actions.

  • Example: "Thou hadst little wit in thy bald crown when thou gav’st thy golden one away."

  • Acts as the voice of reason that Lear ignored.

• Lear’s Other Half:

  • The Fool is an extension of Lear’s mind, representing the part that recognizes his error.

  • Stays with Lear through his descent into madness, commenting on his guilt and regret.

Hamlet’s First Appearance and Attire

• In his first appearance in Hamlet (Act 1, Scene 2), Hamlet is wearing a mourning dress.

• He is dressed in black clothing, described as an “inky cloak”, which signifies his grief over the recent death of his father, King Hamlet.

• This choice of attire sets him apart from the rest of the court, emphasizing his mourning and emotional state.
