King Lear – Kingdom and Territories

• King Lear: King of Britain

• Division of Kingdom: Lear divides his kingdom between his two sons-in-law:

  1. Duke of Albany – representing Scotland

  2. Duke of Cornwall – representing a region in England

• Authority: Lear’s rule extends over both major territories, making him the ruler of the whole island of Britain.

• Other Locations: Territories like France are treated as separate, foreign kingdoms.

Famous playwright William Shakespeare passed away in 1616 (April 23).
