• The Tempest হলো উইলিয়াম শেক্সপিয়রের শেষ রচনা বা Swan Song।

• নাটকটি একটি Romantic Comedy, যা ৫টি অঙ্কে বিভক্ত।

• এটি প্রথম প্রকাশিত হয় ১৬২৩ সালে First Folio-তে।

• “Tempest” শব্দের অর্থ হলো ভয়ঙ্কর ঝড় (Violent Storm)।

২. কাহিনি সংক্ষেপ
এই নাটকের কেন্দ্রীয় চরিত্র Prospero, যিনি একজন যাদুকর এবং মিলানের বৈধ ডিউক।

• তার ছোট ভাই Antonio ষড়যন্ত্র করে তাকে ক্ষমতাচ্যুত করে নির্বাসনে পাঠায়।

• Prospero তার কন্যা Miranda-কে নিয়ে এক দূরবর্তী দ্বীপে বসবাস শুরু করেন।

• এখানে তিনি জাদুবিদ্যা শিখে নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনেন দুটি অতিপ্রাকৃত সত্তা—

  • Ariel (আত্মারূপী সহকারী, শুভ শক্তির প্রতীক)

  • Caliban (বিকৃত স্বভাবের, বিদ্রোহী প্রকৃতির, অশুভ শক্তির প্রতীক)।

নাটকের শুরুতে দেখা যায়, Prospero তার যাদুবিদ্যা ব্যবহার করে এক ভয়ঙ্কর ঝড় (tempest) সৃষ্টি করেন, যাতে তার শত্রুরা—বিশেষ করে Antonio—দ্বীপে এসে পড়ে। এখান থেকেই নাটকের ঘটনাপ্রবাহ এগিয়ে যায়।

• Ariel প্রসপেরোর বিশ্বস্ত সহকারী হিসেবে কাজ করে এবং তার পরিকল্পনা বাস্তবায়নে সাহায্য করে।

• অপরদিকে, Caliban প্রসপেরোকে ঘৃণা করে কারণ তাকে দাসত্বে বাধ্য করা হয়েছে। সে প্রসপেরোকে হত্যার ষড়যন্ত্র করে।

Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" একটি কমেডি নাটক।

• Twelfth Night: 
- ১৬০২-০৩ সালের দিকে লেখা এই comedy টি ১৬২৩ সালে Shakespeare এর  First Folio অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়ে প্রকাশিত হয়।
- Viola এ নাটকের পটভূমি Illyria নামক কাল্পনিক অঞ্চলকে ঘিরে।
- এটি এই কমেডির কেন্দ্রীয় নারী চরিত্র।
- নাটকের শুরুতে তাকে পুরুষের ছদ্মবেশে দেখতে পাওয়া যায়। 
- শেক্সপিয়ারের অন্যসব কমেডির হিরোইনদের মত "Viola" কেও লেখক সুন্দর এবং বুদ্ধিদৃপ্ত চরিত্র হিসেবে উপস্থাপন করেছে।

• Shakespeare:
- জন্মস্থান Stratford upon Avon.
- তিনি একাধারে একজন English poet, dramatist এবং actor.
- তাকে English national poet বলা হয়।
- তাকে 'Bard of Avon' বলা হয়।
- He is considered by many to be the greatest dramatist of all time.

The final scene of Hamlet ends with a duel that causes the deaths of the main characters in rapid succession. The order of deaths is:

1. Gertrude: She unknowingly drinks from a poisoned cup intended for Hamlet by Claudius.

2. Laertes: He is wounded by his own poisoned sword during the duel with Hamlet. Before dying, he reveals Claudius’s plot.

3. Claudius: Upon realizing the truth, Hamlet stabs Claudius with the poisoned sword and forces him to drink the rest of the poisoned wine.

4. Hamlet: Struck by Laertes's poisoned blade, Hamlet dies last, ensuring Claudius is dead and asking Horatio to tell his story.

• Key point: Hamlet is the last to die in the final scene.
