“Active voice” এবং “Passive voice” হলো ইংরেজি বাক্যের দুটি প্রধান রূপ। Active voice-এ subject কাজটি করে এবং object কাজের ওপর প্রভাব ফেলে। Passive voice-এ object হলো sentence-এর subject, এবং কাজটি subject-এর ওপর করা হয়। Active sentence “He helped me do it”-তে আমরা দেখতে পাই:

• Subject: He (সে)

• Verb: helped (সহায়তা করেছে)

• Object: me (আমাকে)

• Complement/Infinitive: do it (এটি করা)

যখন আমরা এই sentence-এর passive voice বানাই, তখন object (“me”) sentence-এর নতুন subject হয়। Active voice-এ subject যিনি কাজটি করেছেন (“He”) তাকে passive voice-এ by + subject আকারে sentence-এ রাখা হয়।

Passive voice গঠনের নিয়ম:

1. Object কে নতুন subject বানাও।

2. Main verb-এর passive form ব্যবহার করো।

3. Original subject কে “by + subject” আকারে রাখো।

4. বাক্যটির অন্য অংশ অপরিবর্তিত রাখো।

“Help” হলো transitive verb, যার সঙ্গে object ব্যবহার করা হয়। Active sentence-এ “help someone do something” রূপটি দেখা যায়। Passive voice-এ এই রূপের নিয়ম হলো:

• Original object → new subject

• was/were + past participle of main verb

• by + original subject

• infinitive (“to do”) অপরিবর্তিত রাখা হয়

Sentence-এর ধাপ অনুযায়ী passive রূপ:

• Original sentence: He helped me do it

• Step 1 (Object becomes subject): Me …

• Step 2 (Verb passive): was helped …

• Step 3 (Add original subject with by): was helped by him …

• Step 4 (Infinitive preserved): was helped by him to do it

এভাবে আমরা পাই: I was helped by him to do it। এখানে:

• “I” → নতুন subject

• “was helped” → passive verb

• “by him” → original subject

• “to do it” → original infinitive রক্ষা করা হয়েছে

Passive voice ব্যবহারের কারণ এবং গুরুত্ব:

• Focus on object: কখনও কখনও আমরা চেয়ি কাজের উপর গুরুত্ব দিতে, ব্যক্তি নয়। উদাহরণ: “I was helped by him” → কাজের ফলাফল বোঝায় যে আমাকে সাহায্য করা হয়েছে।

• Formal writing: পরীক্ষার প্রশ্ন, reports, essays, বা scientific writing-এ passive voice বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• Variety in writing: Active voice সবসময় ব্যবহার করলে লেখা একরূপ হয়। Passive voice ব্যবহার করলে sentence structure ভিন্ন হয় এবং readability বৃদ্ধি পায়।

উদাহরণ দিয়ে বোঝা যাক:

• Active: He solved the problem. → Passive: The problem was solved by him.

• Active: She painted the wall. → Passive: The wall was painted by her.

• Active: He helped me do it. → Passive: I was helped by him to do it.

Grammar tips:

• Passive voice-এ main verb সবসময় was/were + past participle আকারে থাকে।

• Subject ও object পরিবর্তিত হয়, কিন্তু বাক্যের other parts রক্ষা করা হয়।

• “Help” verb-এ infinitive to do রাখতে হয়, কারণ এটি সাহায্য করা action নির্দেশ করে।

• Time expressions বা adverbs passive sentence-এ ঠিক সেই জায়গায় রাখা উচিত। যেমন: “I was helped by him yesterday to do it.”

Exam tips:

• Active sentence চিহ্নিত করো: subject + verb + object

• Decide object কে নতুন subject বানাতে হবে।

• Main verb-কে passive form-এ রূপান্তর করো।

• Original subject-কে by + subject আকারে রাখো।

• Sentence-এর অন্যান্য অংশ অপরিবর্তিত রাখো।
