Watch শব্দটির পর কোন ধরণের verb বসবে, তা বুঝতে হলে কিছু নিয়ম জানা দরকার।

Collins Dictionary ও Longman Dictionary অনুযায়ী, watch এর পর verb-এর base form (মূল verb) অথবা verb+ing (continuous form) – দুই ধরনের verb-ই বসতে পারে।

তবে মনে রাখতে হবে, একটি সাধারণ/simple বাক্যে দুটি main verb একসাথে বসানো যায় না।
এজন্য, দ্বিতীয় verb-টি ব্যবহার করতে হলে তাতে -ing যোগ করতে হয়।

এখানে floating সঠিক, কারণ এটি second verb হিসেবে ব্যবহার হয়েছে এবং -ing যুক্ত।
Collins Dictionary অনুযায়ী:
Watch মানে হলো: কাউকে বা কিছু একটা মনোযোগ দিয়ে কিছুক্ষণ দেখা বা পর্যবেক্ষণ করা।
