• Noun phrase:
- যে phrase বা শব্দগুচ্ছ noun এর কাজ করে তাই মূলত Noun phrase.
- অর্থ এবং বাক্যে অবস্থান অনুযায়ী Noun phrase বিভিন্ন ভূমিকা পালন করে।
যেমন:
- Subject হিসেবে; (এই বাক্যে 'Writing a diary' phrase টি Subject হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে, তাই এটি Noun Phrase.)
- Object of a verb হিসেবে;
- Object of a preposition হিসেবে;
- Subject complement হিসেবে;

• The three types of noun phrases are:
i. Appositive phrase:
- It renames another noun in the sentence.
- যে noun phrase অন্য একটি noun সম্মন্ধে comma ব্যবহার করে নতুন তথ্য যোগ করে তাকে appositive বলে।
Example: Mr. Salim, my favorite English teacher, is doing this assignment for me.

ii. Gerund phrase:
- Gerund phrase starts with a gerund.
- Gerund (verb + ing) দিয়ে শুরু হওয়া phrase কে gerund phrase বলে।
Example: The ringing of the phone during the prayers in the mosque disturbs me much.

ii. Infinitive phrase:
- It has an infinitive (to + the present form of the verb) and modifiers linked to the infinitive.
- Infinitive (to+verb) দিয়ে শুরু হওয়া phrase কে infinitive phrase বলে।
Example: I like to have a cup of tea in the morning.
