বাক্য “She prayed that he might recover soon.” একটি Optative Sentence-এর Indirect Speech। এটি এমন একটি বাক্য, যেখানে কারও কামনা, প্রার্থনা বা শুভেচ্ছা প্রকাশ পায়। এখানে reporting verb হলো prayed, যা নির্দেশ করছে যে বাক্যটি প্রার্থনা বা শুভকামনা বোঝাচ্ছে।

• Indirect Speech গঠন ও বিশ্লেষণ:

• Reporting verb যদি past tense-এ থাকে, তবে reported speech-এর verb-ও সাধারণত past tense-এ পরিবর্তিত হয়।

• May-এর past form হলো might, এবং এর পরে verb-এর base form ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• যেমন: She said, “May he recover soon.” → She prayed that he might recover soon.

• Optative Sentence-এর ক্ষেত্রে Speech Change-এর নিয়ম:

• Reporting verb ‘said’ পরিবর্তন হয়ে prayed বা wished হয়, বাক্যের অর্থ অনুযায়ী।

• Inverted comma ( “ ” ) উঠে গিয়ে that বসে।

• Reported speech-এ subject + might + base form of verb ব্যবহৃত হয়।

• বাক্যের বাকি অংশ (যা প্রার্থনা বা কামনা বোঝাচ্ছে) মূল verb থেকে পরের অংশে 그대로 বসে।

• Example transformations:

• He said, “May you succeed in life.” → He wished that I might succeed in life.

• She said, “May God bless you.” → She prayed that God might bless me.

• They said, “May he rest in peace.” → They prayed that he might rest in peace.

• অতিরিক্ত তথ্য:

• Optative Sentence এমন বাক্য যা কোনো ইচ্ছা, আশীর্বাদ, প্রার্থনা, অভিশাপ বা শুভকামনা প্রকাশ করে।

• সাধারণত may দিয়ে শুরু হয়, তবে wish, pray, বা hope দিয়েও প্রকাশ পেতে পারে।

• Indirect Speech-এ may → might, can → could, will → would ইত্যাদি পরিবর্তন ঘটে।

• উদাহরণস্বরূপ, He said, “May you live long.” → He wished that I might live long.
