Preposition ব্যবহারে এর নিয়ম

"Phone" বা "telephone" শব্দের আগে কোন preposition বসবে, তা ব্যবহারের ধরন অনুযায়ী নির্ভর করে। যদি বোঝানো হয় “ফোনের মাধ্যমে”, তখন by phone বা by telephone ব্যবহার হয়। যেমন: Rizvi requested Rini by telephone to attend the meeting. আবার, কারো সাথে ফোনে কথা বলা বোঝাতে on the phone ব্যবহার হয়।

যেমন: She is on the phone now. অন্যদিকে, over the phone বোঝায় ফোনে কথোপকথনের সময় কিছু আলোচনা হচ্ছে। যেমন: They will discuss the matter over the phone. তাই প্রশ্নে “telephone” থাকায় সঠিক preposition হবে by।

স্মরণযোগ্য উদাহরণ

• By phone: The manager will inform us by phone.

• Over the phone: They solved the issue over the phone.

• On the phone: He is still on the phone.

সম্পূর্ণ বাক্য: Neela burnt her hand when she was cooking dinner.
(নিলা রাতের খাবার রান্না করার সময় তার হাত পুড়ে গিয়েছিল।)

When দিয়ে যুক্ত দুটি clause-এর ক্ষেত্রে সময় অনুযায়ী টেনস কেমন হবে তা বুঝতে নিচের নিয়মগুলো দেখো

১. যদি একটি clause থাকে past continuous tense-এ, তাহলে অন্যটি হবে past indefinite tense-এ।
উদাহরণ:
When you called, I was in a meeting.
(তুমি যখন ফোন করেছিলে, তখন আমি একটি মিটিংয়ে ছিলাম।)

২. যদি When দিয়ে যুক্ত বাক্যে ভবিষ্যতের কোনো কাজ বোঝানো হয়, তাহলে When যুক্ত clause-এ future indefinite tense হয় না। বরং future tense হয় মূল clause-এ, আর When clause-এ present indefinite tense হয়।
উদাহরণ:
I will phone you when I get the news.
(আমি তোমাকে ফোন করব যখন আমি খবরটা পাব।)

৩. যখন দুটি clause-ই present time বোঝায় এবং একটি ঘটনা অন্যটির ফলাফল হয়, তখন দুটি clause-ই present indefinite tense-এ হয়।
উদাহরণ:
When water freezes, it turns into ice.
(পানি জমে গেলে তা বরফে পরিণত হয়।)
