Euphemism হলো এমন একটি বাক্যরীতি বা ভাষার ব্যবহার, যেখানে অস্বস্তিকর, কর্কশ বা কঠোর কিছুকে কোমল, মৃদু বা প্রীতিকরভাবে প্রকাশ করা হয়। ইংরেজি সাহিত্যে এটি ‘সুভাষণ’, ‘কোমল প্রকাশ’ বা inoffensive expression হিসেবে পরিচিত।
