W. B. Yeats ছিলেন একজন প্রখ্যাত আইরিশ কবি ও নাট্যকার, যিনি আয়ারল্যান্ডের ঐতিহ্য, সংস্কৃতি এবং রাজনীতিকে তাঁর সাহিত্যকর্মে গভীরভাবে তুলে ধরেছেন। তাঁকে Ireland-এর National Poet বলা হয়।

• তিনি প্রথম আইরিশ কবি হিসেবে Nobel Prize in Literature লাভ করেন (১৯২৩ সালে)।

• Yeats ছিলেন আয়ারল্যান্ডের সাহিত্যিক ও সাংস্কৃতিক জাগরণের অন্যতম পথিকৃৎ।

• তাঁর জন্মভূমির প্রতি গভীর ভালোবাসা ও গৌরব তাঁর কবিতাগুলোতে প্রতিফলিত হয়েছে।

• নামকরণ Queen Victoria-এর নামে। যদিও তিনি 1837 সালে সিংহাসনে বসেন, সাহিত্যিক পরিবর্তন 1832 সাল থেকে লক্ষ্য করা যায়।

• Fabian Society 1883 সালে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়, শ্রেণী সংগ্রামে হিংসা এড়াতে। G.B. Shaw ছিলেন এর সদস্য।
