Question: In a business, the ratio of the capitals of A and B is 2 : 1, that of B and C is 4 : 3 and that of D and C is 6 : 5. What is the ratio of the capitals of A and D?

Solution:
Given,
A : B = 2 : 1 A/B = 2/1
B : C = 4 : 3 B/C = 4/3
D : C = 6 : 5 C/D = 5/6

Now, A/D = (A/B) × (B/C) × (C/D)
= (2/1) × (4/3) × (5/6)
= 20/9

A/D = 20 : 9
