• Subordinate Clause:
- যে Clause এ একটি subject & একটি Finite verb থাকার পরেও পূর্ণ অর্থ প্রকাশের জন্যে Principal Clause এর উপর নির্ভরশীল তাকে Subordinate Clause বলে।
• Subordinate Clause তিন প্রকার। যথা-
1. Noun Clause.
2. Adjective Clause.
3. Adverbial Clause.
• Subordinate Clause সাধারণত নিম্নলিখিত Word গুলো দিয়ে আরম্ভ হয়;
- Who, When, How, Where, Which, If, As, Although, That, Why, So that, In order that, Whom, Hardly, Scarcely, Barely, No sooner,
• যদি Although it was raining; এই clause টি একা বা স্বাধীনভাবে কোথাও ব্যবহার করা হয় তাহলে তা সম্পূর্ণ অর্থ প্রকাশ করছে না।
- অর্থ প্রকাশের জন্য অন্য একটি Principal Clause এর উপর এটি নির্ভরশীল। যেখানে we went out. ব্যবহার করলে অর্থ প্রকাশ করছে।
- তাই এটি একটি Subordinate Clause.
• বাকি অপশনসমূহ প্রত্যেকটি সম্পূর্ণ অর্থ প্রকাশ করছে; তাই এরা Principal Clause.
