Ballad

• Narrative poem telling a story through dialogue and action।

• লোকমুখে রটেছে এমন গান বা কবিতা, সাধারণত কাহিনিসংবলিত।

• প্রধান ধরণ: Folk/Popular Ballad এবং Literary Ballad।

• Features:

  • Impersonal third-person narrator

  • Dialogue ও action দ্বারা গল্প বলা হয়

  • Ballad stanzas ব্যবহার

  • Refrain সাধারণ

  • বিষয়: rural life, love, legends, supernatural, tragic events

Mock-Epic

• Epic-এর সব বৈশিষ্ট্য ব্যবহার করে তুচ্ছ বিষয়কে হালকাভাবে উপস্থাপন করা narrative poem।

• উদাহরণ: Pope – The Rape of the Lock

Doggerel

• তুচ্ছ বিষয়ভিত্তিক, rough এবং monotonous rhyme-এর ছোট কবিতা।

Ode

• Exalted lyric poem, someone-এর উদ্দেশ্যে address দিয়ে শুরু।

• Ceremonious poem, ব্যক্তিগত অনুভূতি ও সাধারণ ভাবনাকে একত্রিত করে।

• মধ্যবর্তী অংশে intense distress, শেষে consolation বা moral।

• Style: lofty, tone: grave, বিষয়: গুরুগম্ভির।

• The Silent Woman:
- এটি Ben Jonson রচিত।
- এটি একটি play.
- The play is about a man named Dauphine, who creates a scheme to get his inheritance from his uncle Morose.
- The plan involves setting Morose up to marry Epicoene, a boy disguised as a woman

• Ben Jonson:
- তিনি একজন English writer.
- তিনি একাধারে English Stuart dramatist, lyric poet এবং literary critic.
- তাকে Father of Comedy of Humours বলা হয়।

• Famous Plays:

- Volpone.

Rule:

• সমজাতীয় কিছু বোঝাতে যেমন the same, the certain ইত্যাদি, singular common noun-এর আগে a/an বসে।

Examples:

• Birds of a feather flock together.

• Criminals are of a (the same) character.

• There lived a farmer.
