Collective Noun হলো এমন একটি শব্দ যা একত্রিত কিছু ব্যক্তি বা বস্তুর সমষ্টিকে বোঝায় এবং একটিমাত্র একক হিসেবে উল্লেখ করা হয়। সহজভাবে বলতে গেলে, কিছু সাধারণ নাম (Common Noun) একত্রিত হয়ে যা বোঝায় তাকে Collective Noun বলা হয়। কিছু উদাহরণ হলো cattle, herd, army, public, library, jury, committee, crew, majority, minority ইত্যাদি।
Collective Noun কে কখনো কখনো Common Noun এ রূপান্তর করা যায় যদি এর আগে সংখ্যা ব্যবহার করা হয় বা পরে s/es যোগ করা হয়। যেমন:
