• 1660 – 1785: The Neoclassical Period

• 1798 – 1832: The Romantic Period

• 1832 – 1901: The Victorian Period

• 1939 – Till now: The Postmodern Period

Need যখন modal auxiliary হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়, তখন negative sentence-এ এর পরে not আসে এবং to ব্যবহার করা হয় না। অর্থাৎ, need not + verb (base form) গঠন ব্যবহার হয়।

• Semi-modal: Need মূল verb হিসেবেও ব্যবহৃত হয়, আবার modal হিসেবেও।

• নিয়ম: Need-এর সাথে কখনো s/es যুক্ত হয় না।

• Example sentences:

  • You needn’t take off your shoes.

  • You need not spend a lot of money on presents.

• Complete sentence: You need not apologize; it wasn’t your fault.

  • এখানে apologize হলো base form, কারণ need modal হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
