The correct answer: গ) As soon as he reached the station, the train left.

  • অর্থ: যে মুহূর্তে তিনি স্টেশনে পৌঁছালেন, ট্রেন চলে গেল।

Rule for Negative → Affirmative:

  • Negative sentence No sooner had… দিয়ে শুরু হলে affirmative sentence-এ as soon as… ব্যবহার করা হয়।

  • Affirmative-এ যে দুটি clause যুক্ত হবে, তাতে past perfect tense ব্যবহার হয় না, সাধারণ past tense থাকে।

Examples:

  • Neg.: No sooner had I arrived home than it began to rain.

    • Aff.: As soon as I arrived home, it began to rain.

  • Neg.: No sooner had she heard the news than she started weeping.

    • Aff.: As soon as she heard the news, she started weeping.

  • Neg.: No sooner had I wanted to catch the bird than it flew away.

    • Aff.: As soon as I wanted to catch the bird, it flew away.

Other options:

  • ক) As soon as he reaches the station, the train left. → Present tense reaches এবং past tense left মিলছে না।

  • খ) As soon as he was reaching the station, the train left. → Continuous tense এখানে সঠিক নয়।

  • ঘ) As soon as he had reached the station, the train had left. → দুটোই past perfect, অর্থ ট্রেন আগে চলে গেছে; বাক্যের আসল অর্থ নেই।
