Converting Simple Sentence with "Because of" to Complex Sentence

• Example:

• Simple: Because of the rain, we canceled the tour.

• Complex: Since it was raining, we canceled the tour.

• Rule / নিয়ম:

1. Since/As দিয়ে শুরু করতে হবে।

2. Subject বসাতে হবে।

3. Verb বসবে tense অনুযায়ী।

4. Adjective/Noun বসাতে হবে (যদি থাকে)।

5. Comma বসাতে হবে।

6. এরপর অপর বাক্যটি বসাতে হবে।

• Simple: Because of his hard work, he passed the exam.

• Complex: Since he worked hard, he passed the exam.

মূল বাক্য ছিল In spite of his wealth, he is unhappy, যা একটি simple sentence, যেখানে prepositional phrase “In spite of his wealth” দ্বারা contrast বোঝানো হয়েছে। একে complex sentence-এ রূপান্তর করতে হলে main clause এবং subordinate clause যুক্ত করতে হয়। সঠিক রূপ হলো ঘ) Though he is wealthy, he is unhappy, যেখানে Though he is wealthy হলো subordinate clause এবং he is unhappy হলো main clause। এখানে though ব্যবহার করে মূল বাক্যের বিপরীতার্থক সম্পর্ক বজায় রাখা হয়েছে, ফলে অর্থ ও গঠন উভয়ই ঠিক আছে।

• অপশন ক) He is unhappy, yet wealthy — এটি একটি compound sentence, কারণ দুটি independent clause yet দ্বারা যুক্ত হয়েছে; complex নয়।

• অপশন গ) Because he is wealthy, he is unhappy — এখানে wealth-কে unhappiness-এর কারণ হিসেবে দেখানো হয়েছে, যা মূল বাক্যের বিপরীত সম্পর্কের সঙ্গে সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ নয়।

• অপশন ঘ) Though he is wealthy, he is unhappy — সঠিক উত্তর, কারণ এটি মূল বাক্যের অর্থ অক্ষুণ্ণ রেখে complex sentence তৈরি করেছে।

Correct Answer: গ) "Though he is a teacher, he is a writer."

• এটি একটি simple sentence, যেখানে Besides being a teacher হলো prepositional phrase।
