নিয়মাবলি:
যদি Direct Speech-এ Present Indefinite Tense থাকে, তবে Indirect Speech-এ তা Past Indefinite Tense হয়।
Subject + Reporting Verb (যেমন said, told ইত্যাদি) বসে।
Inverted comma (‘ ’) উঠে যায় এবং তার স্থানে that ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Pronoun পরিবর্তন: Reported Speech-এর “I” → “he”, “we” → “they”, “you” → “I/he/she” ইত্যাদি অনুযায়ী পরিবর্তিত হয়।
Might, ought to, should, would, used to প্রভৃতি শব্দ Indirect Speech-এ অপরিবর্তিত থাকে।
উদাহরণ:
Direct Speech: He said, "I know him well because I used to live with him."
Indirect Speech: He said that he knew him well because he used to live with him.
বিশ্লেষণ:
Reporting verb “said” → past tense।
Reported speech-এর “know” → corresponding past tense “knew” হয়েছে।
Inverted comma উঠেছে → “that” বসেছে।
“I” → “he” তে পরিবর্তিত হয়েছে।
“used to” অপরিবর্তিত রয়েছে কারণ এটি tense পরিবর্তনের নিয়মের আওতায় পড়ে না।
